Hillingdon Community Network (Sept 2026)
The event provided an opportunity for approximately 30 attendees to connect, share experiences and explore ways to strengthen collaboration across the borough. Guests networked and then heard from speakers on issues affecting local communities.
The first presentation was by Dan Morton, Practice Development Manager at the London Borough of Hillingdon Safeguarding Partnership. He shared information about local safeguarding initiatives and the role of organisations in supporting and protecting vulnerable residents. He highlighted the importance of partnership working and community involvement in safeguarding. Dan also encouraged attendees to attend the safeguarding forum and complete a survey to support future safeguarding work.

The second presentation was delivered by Naomi Kennard, Associate Transformation Manager, South West Neighbourhood Team, NHS Hillingdon Confederation. She spoke about neighbourhood working, what neighbourhoods are, and the role of VCSE organisations within neighbourhoods. She also spoke about GP accessibility and the work taking place to improve access to primary care services for residents.

One of the highlights of the morning was from an NHS professional (Dion), who offered free health checks to participants. Attendees had the opportunity to have their blood pressure checked and receive diabetes screening. She also followed up with information and advice.
To round off the event, there was an interactive tabletop exercise, where participants discussed current challenges facing their organisations. The conversations sparked new connections and potential partnerships, reinforcing the value of bringing the sector together. From the participants' feedback, the top themes identified were funding, networking and volunteer recruitment and retention.
The Hillingdon Community Network continues to provide an important space for local organisations to learn, connect and work together.
