Community of Practice Event

On 22 April, over 50 professionals from across the NHS, local authority and voluntary and community sector came together for a face-to-face Community of Practice event creating a valuable space to reconnect, learn and strengthen partnership working across Hillingdon.

The event took place at Christ Church, Redford Way, Belmont Road, Uxbridge and welcomed representatives from a wide range of organisations working to support local residents. The strong turnout highlighted a shared commitment to collaboration and improving how services communicate and work together.

Guest Speakers

The morning featured two insightful guest speakers, with presentations from Homestead and the Hillingdon Memory Service. Both sessions prompted thoughtful discussion, offering practical insight into service delivery, lived experience and the importance of joined-up approaches when supporting people and families. Attendees valued hearing directly from frontline services, particularly how partnership working can enhance outcomes for residents navigating complex systems.

Interactive Activities

Following the presentations, the event shifted into a more interactive format designed to encourage connection and shared learning. A networking bingo activity helped break the ice, sparking conversations between attendees who may not usually cross paths in their day-to-day roles.

This was followed by a table-top exercise focused on communication between the third sector and the NHS, where small groups explored common challenges and opportunities. These discussions generated honest reflections and practical ideas for improving information sharing, collaboration and mutual understanding across sectors.

Collaboration in Action

The session was co-facilitated by Olivia Bolger, representing H4All, who helped guide discussions and ensure voices from across the room were heard. Her facilitation supported an open and inclusive space where participants could contribute freely and learn from one another.
