Connect

Connect with family, friends, colleagues and neighbours - at home, work, school or in your local community. Think of these as the cornerstones of your life and invest time in developing them. Building these connections will support and enrich you every day.

Be active

Exercise in whatever way makes you feel good. Most importantly, discover a physical activity you enjoy and one that suits your level of mobility and fitness. As little as a single bout of 10 minutes of physical activity can positively improve mood.

Take notice

Be curious. Catch sight of the beautiful. Notice the changing seasons. Reflecting on your experiences will help you appreciate what matters to you. Take time to notice the sights, smells, sounds and tastes that you experience, as well as the thoughts and feelings that occur from one moment to the next. This can help us to enjoy the world more and understand ourselves better.

Keep learning

Learning can boost self-confidence and self-esteem, help build a sense of purpose, help us connect with others and doesn't have to mean getting more qualifications. There are many ways to bring learning into your life which can positively affect your mental wellbeing and help you to connect with others.

Give

Thank someone. Smile. Volunteer your time. Join a community group. Do something nice for a friend or a stranger. Any acts of kindness, whether small or large can give you a sense of purpose and make you feel happier and more satisfied about life.
