Volunteer With the

Wellbeing Service

Volunteering can make a real difference to your own life and the lives of those around you. Volunteers bring their skills, insights and experience to charities to help others without payment.

Whatever your age, background or interests there are shared experiences in Volunteering. It is a great way to meet new people, make new friends, learn new skills and give something back to your community.

Buddy – Up

Some of our clients can initially find it difficult to re-engage into a social environment outside of their home. Our Buddy-Up volunteers support clients in doing just that by going along and keeping them company at maybe a luncheon club, afternoon tea or craft class, the list of possibilities is endless. If you’re someone who enjoys getting out and about and meeting new people and trying new things this could be the perfect role for you.

Just to Talk

Do you love to talk? There are many of our clients who like to do just that. Getting out and about can be difficult for them so to have the opportunity to sit and enjoy a conversation with someone over the phone is always welcome. We have never found our clients to be short of conversation but if you get stuck then the weather is always a good starting point!

Pleased To Meet You

Sometimes friends move away and families cannot always visit as often as they would like to. Our Pleased To Meet You volunteers do an incredible job befriending and help fill what can be an enormous gap in a person’s life. Popping in for a cup of tea and a chat or taking a wander to the shops once a week is a great way to share your time with someone.

Join the Club

If socialising is what you enjoy then we have an enormous variety of clubs and groups that would love you to join them. Anything from dancing, yoga, sports, afternoon tea, lunch clubs, arts and crafts, walking, seated football. They are an invaluable source of friendship and contact for many of our clients so you will truly make a big difference to a lot of people by sharing your time with them. We really do have something for everyone, so tell us what you enjoy and we will match you with the perfect place.

Office Support

This is a very varied and interesting role, and plays a key role in the smooth operation of our organisation. You will have the opportunity to gain an insight into ‘what goes on behind the scenes’ in a Community Interest organisation. So whether you love picking up the phone and talking with people, data entry, following up with activities and clubs to see if they have anything new going on, helping out on reception or using your design skills for marketing, you will be very welcome.

Follow-up Service

Many of our clients forget or feel forgotten once referrals have been made when services have been involved. This way everything is being chased up for them and they know that you are constantly supporting them. As a volunteer for the follow-up service, you could build up experience in liaising with professionals from health and social care, along with charitable organisations. The priority of this service is to keep client's updated and supported even when all referrals have been made. You will be speaking with clients, developing your understanding of services available for older adults, and building your confidence while in a supportive and friendly environment. This service makes a world of difference to our clients and hopefully to you.
